A symposium on the ethical and psychological aspects of relations between society and doctors took place in Perm as part of an international bioethics congress.
Yan Vlasov opened the symposium with a presentation on bioethics in the digital age. He discussed how technology changes the role of the patient community and the risks associated with declining trust in healthcare professionals.
The discussion emphasised the need for clear communication and a continuing dialogue between public authorities, clinicians and patients. Public councils at medical institutions in Perm Territory were identified as one way to develop this work.
