In late May 2011, our Society started applying for general consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at the UN. By about mid-October before the ARMSS 3rd Congress in Samara, that process finished and the Committee was expected to invite the ARMSS, as due, to its 2012 Regular Session on 30 January – 8 February 2012 in New York to consider our application and possibly see the ARMSS incorporated at this biggest and most influential international agency in the world.

The ARMSS President Council and Board of Directors express their big thanks to the Central TV channel ‘Perviy’ (First) for the TV programme ‘Zhit’ zdorovo’ (Eng., ‘Live healthily’) aired at the end of May, 2012. The TV programme was transmitted shortly before the World MS Day, and it was dedicated to the event as well as to its theme of informing wide audiences about MS and what it brings. ARMSS President Dr Yan Vlasov participated in the show as the main guest, and eventually, tens of millions of Russians near their TV-sets learned so much about MS in the easiest possible way.

This period of about two weeks, which we dedicate to our fight with MS most fervently, is over by now. It started on World MS Day and ended on the 11th of June, when the All-Russian MS Day is celebrated. In our country like throughout the world, we marked WMSD, by many estimates, just wonderfully. A long list of events ARMSS branches implemented on WMSD proves that.

MSIF about WMSD in Russia

This year World MS Day (WMSD) was very convincing and more than remarkable. It was a hit for all countries around the world. But it came as a surprise when summarizing the WMSD 2012 results, the MSIF office wanted to feature the events taken place on WMSD in Russia.

Perhaps, that interest proceeded from the popularity WMSD had gained in the country and, of course, the television broadcast on the Central TV Channel ‘Perviy’ with ARMSS President Dr Yan Vlasov participating.
